Benefits of Working with Us

We provide health, vision, and dental insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. Premiums for a single health plan are covered by the ambulance district at no cost to the employee.

Vision insurance is provided through VSP.

We provide an Employee Assistance Program free of charge for all employees.

The ambulance district, through a partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center, has a retirement plan for its employees.

Life insurance is provided through the ambulance district.

As a government ambulance service, employees of the district qualify for Line of Duty Death benefits through the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Affairs.

The ambulance district subsidizes continuing education for employees, including required refreshers and certifications.

An education fund is available to offset costs of attending conferences and trainings for employees.

Employees are encouraged to attend trainings offered through the National Fire Academy and Center for Domestic Preparedness at no cost to the employee.

The ambulance district hosts skill based education sessions throughout the year. Some topics include airway management, SALAD, surgical procedures, human factors, and more.

For employees looking to practice at the Advanced Practice Paramedic level, we provide a university level critical care paramedic training, as well as specialty trainings in fields such as point of care ultrasound, ventilator management, and prehospital anesthesia.

Advanced EMTs employed by the district may work in an in-hospital setting as an opportunity to better understand in-hospital care.

Paramedics employed by the district may work in an in-hospital setting. As an in-hospital provider, the Paramedic is limited in Scope of Practice only by the Physician Medical Director, and may be privileged to perform invasive procedures within the hospital.

Positions with Us

This paid-on-call program allows members of the local community to serve their fellow community members.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a North Dakota or Montana driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable via the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund.
  • Must pass background investigation including criminal background, credit, and vulnerable adult reporting.
  • Must obtain and hold Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP).
  • Must obtain Emergency Vehicle Driver’s Training or Emergency Vehicle Operations Course with 2 years of hire.

The EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) is the first level of prehospital care provider.

The Paramedic is an advanced life support provider of prehospital care. Paramedics in our system work with Ambulance Operators, First Responders, and EMTs to respond to emergencies. Paramedics with the Divide County Ambulance District are credentialed by the Physician Medical Director to perform invasive skills, and may be privileged by St. Luke’s Medical Center to provide care within the hospital.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a North Dakota or Montana driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable via the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund.
  • Must pass background investigation including criminal background, credit, and vulnerable adult reporting.
  • Must hold Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP).
  • Must hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
  • Must hold certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP).
  • Must be licensed as a Paramedic in the state of North Dakota.

Preferences:

  • Critical Care Paramedic certification.
  • Handtevy provider/instructor.
  • ACLS/PALS instructor.

The Advanced Practice Paramedic is a position that may only be transferred into. This position is for highly educated and trained providers with a drive for knowledge and a higher scope of practice. The APP is credentialed by the Physician Medical Director to perform highly invasive procedures, some of which are surgical. The APP is capable of providing for the sickest patients we see and utilizes critical thinking and prior education/training to care for a patient, not just treatment protocols.
